Clogau – Gold of Royalty

Good Morning! We hope that you had a lovely weekend!

With the release of Clogau’s beautiful new collection for this year’s Spring and Summer season, the Welsh-based jewellery business has been at the forefront of our minds.

With over twenty years of experience in creating handcrafted jewellery, Clogau incorporates a touch of rare Welsh gold within each piece, mined from the Clogau St. David’s Gold Mine in Bontddu, Wales. Clogau describes this gold as, ‘undoubtedly one of the rarest, most expensive and most sought-after in the world.’ In fact, the Welsh gold that Clogau uses is the very same gold that has been used to create generations of Royal Family wedding rings; most recently crafted for the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, for her marriage to Prince William. It comes as no surprise then, that Clogau is some of the most coveted jewellery in the world. (Clogau Gold of Wales Ltd, 2012)

Creating beautiful collections across a range of areas, including ladieswear, menswear, bridal and childrenswear, Clogau also has a ‘737 Collection’, in support of Richard Parks’ 737 Challenge. In 2011, retired Rugby player Richard Parks, whose career ended early due to a shoulder injury, became the first person to climb the highest mountain on each of the world’s seven continents, and to stand on the three poles. He did this in under seven months, and all in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. In recognition of this inspirational feat, Clogau donates 20% from the sale of each 737 item to 737 Challenge, which aims to raise £1 million in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

This is why we love Clogau so much as a jewellery brand. It uses rare Welsh gold create beautiful, handcrafted jewellery, fit for a King (or Queen). It’s a family business, with over twenty years of experience. It supports charity, and cares about promoting the message that, yes, we all have the strength inside to climb our own personal mountains in life.

We thought that we’d showcase some of our favourite Clogau pieces from our shop, as words really don’t do justice to the splendor of their jewellery. We think that these pieces capture the beauty that is seen so clearly in each and every Clogau product.

The first is Clogau’s Silver Butterfly Locket, which can be worn open or closed. Intricate and delicate in design, it combines sterling Silver and 9ct Gold to create a sublimely beautiful necklace. (£199.00)
